LloydsPharmacy Clinical Homecare Shortlisted for Innovation in Recruitment Award

LloydsPharmacy Clinical Homecare (LPCH) is delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for the Innovation in Recruitment category at the prestigious Personnel Today Awards. This nomination recognises our groundbreaking partnership with AudienceLink, which has significantly enhanced our recruitment processes, particularly for nursing roles, thereby improving the care we provide to our patients.

Transforming Recruitment with AudienceLink

In early 2023, LPCH faced a significant challenge with nursing vacancies and there was an urgent need for a strategic overhaul. We partnered with AudienceLink, a staffing and recruitment company, to address this issue.

Our collaborative approach focused on several key areas:

  1. Reviewing and Improving Strategy:
  • We looked at a year’s worth of unpredictable job market data.
  • We compared ourselves to competitors to see where we stand in the market and how our salaries match up.
  1. Recruitment Marketing:
  • We used targeted online ads to get more people interested and applying for jobs.
  • We created a new message about why it’s great to work here and launched a new careers website to attract top talent.
  1. Improving the Hiring Process:
  • We made our job application system more efficient to give candidates a better experience and hire people faster.
  • We set up a clear and fair process for selecting candidates.
  1. Enhancing Candidate Experience:
  • We held virtual open days and events, which led to more nurses engaging with us and applying for jobs.
  1. Comprehensive Onboarding and Retention Programmes
  • Developed robust onboarding programmes to ensure new hires feel supported and integrated.
  • Implemented continuous professional development opportunities.

Positive Impact on Patient Care

The impact of these initiatives has been profound, significantly enhancing our ability to deliver high-quality care to our patients:

  • Increased Capacity and Reduced Waiting Times:
    • By significantly reducing nursing vacancies, we have been able to increase our capacity to provide timely and efficient care to more patients, reducing waiting times for essential treatments.
  • Enhanced Quality of Care:
    • With a higher quality of applicants and a streamlined recruitment process, we have ensured that our nursing team is composed of highly skilled and dedicated professionals, directly improving the quality-of-care patients receive.
  • Improved Patient Satisfaction:
    • The increased engagement and satisfaction of our nursing staff have translated into better patient experiences. Happy, well-supported nurses provide better care, which has led to higher patient satisfaction and improved health outcomes.
  • Specialised Oncology Care:
    • The recruitment of Oncology Practice Development Nurses and the launch of a 12-week development programme have bolstered our oncology services, providing specialised care and support to patients undergoing cancer treatment.

Jo Upton, Director of Nursing and Clinical Services at LPCH, commented, “The collaboration between our HR team, nursing team, and AudienceLink was pivotal in overcoming our recruitment challenges. The strategies implemented not only filled critical vacancies but also enhanced the quality of care we provide to our patients. This joint effort has laid a strong foundation for sustained success in delivering exceptional patient care.”

Rowan Marriott, Director at AudienceLink, added, “Working with LPCH has been a unique and rewarding experience. The close involvement of HR leadership, Operations, and the Director of Nursing set the foundation for a truly collaborative effort. Our expertise, combined with the dedication of LPCH’s internal teams, made a big difference, resulting in a sector-leading campaign that positively impacts patient care.”
