Carbon Reduction Plan
Supplier name: Lloyds Pharmacy Clinical Homecare (LPCH)
Publication date: 01/09/2023
Commitment to Achieving Net Zero
LPCH is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.
Baseline Year: 2022
Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.
McKesson sold LPCH in April 2022, with a one year Separation Programme, under a Transition Service Agreement that ended April 2023; therefore 2023 has been selected as the baseline reporting year.
Emissions have been calculated using the BEIS 2022 GHG conversion factors. The consumption data reporting period is the 2023 calendar year.
Scope 1: Direct greenhouse gas emissions associated with natural gas consumption across the LPCH property estate and F-gas leaks.
Scope 2: Indirect greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the importation of grid electricity.
Data around Scope 3 emissions is still in the process of being collected to establish a baseline.
Baseline year emissions:
Scope 1 – 70 tCO2e
Scope 2 – 628 tCO2e
Scope 3 – Data is still in the process of being collected to establish a baseline.
Total Emissions – 698 (Scope 1 and 2)
Emissions Reduction Targets
LPCH has committed to achieving Net Zero by 2040.
Despite LPCH being in the early stages of a Net Zero journey, having only become its own standalone business unit, establishing a carbon reduction pathway is a major priority.
We are currently working towards establishing our baseline carbon footprint and subsequently shorter-term reduction targets. It is vital to understand where we currently are in order to make informed decisions about how best to achieve Net Zero.
CBRE has been commissioned by LPCH to set-up and establish a short, medium and long-term sustainability strategy. This includes benchmarking LPCH sites based on energy and water consumption, and developing a reporting template with targets as informed by the benchmarking activity. Performance can then be monitored and assessed.
Carbon Reduction Projects
Following the establishment of internal reduction targets LPCH can begin to implement carbon reduction measures. The identification of energy saving opportunities will result from consumption data analysis.
At present, LPCH plans to move toward Net Zero by investing in the following:
- Optimisation of electrical system and plant runtime based on unit occupancy
- Low emission vehicles for delivery fleet
- Innovative vehicle technologies, such as van telematic programmes
- Delivery driver training programmes
- Asset replacement across the property estate to more efficient equipment
